It is the policy of the Ernest Orlando Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) to carry out all activities in a reliable, safe and quality manner.
To help fulfill this mission and ensure that the risks and environmental impacts are identified and minimized, and that the safety, reliability, and performance are optimized, LBNL has established and implemented an effective operating and quality program that supports compliance with applicable Federal, State and local regulations and the US Department of Energy (DOE) orders and requirements.
It is the intent of LBNL to establish a culture and work environment that encourages setting and maintaining effective standards, identifying and resolving issues, emphasizing a continual pursuit of improvement and fostering mutual respect and effective communication within LBNL, their suppliers, the public and other stakeholders.
The Quality Assurance Program Description (QAPD) describes the Lab’s Quality Management System and Quality Assurance Program requirements for quality-affecting programs, projects and activities. LBNL and its subcontractors are required to meet the applicable requirements of the QAPD to plan, control and execute work.
It is the responsibility of every LBNL employee to achieve quality, identify problems and recommend improvements.
